Siliguri wins State-Level Under-19 football tournament

Kharibari, 13th September: Siliguri team emerged victorious in the finals of the state-level U-19 football tournament held in Bankura. Siliguri’s football team became Champions after defeating Kolkata 4-3 in penalties. Rajiv Sinha, a student of Naxalbari Nanda Prasad High School, also joined Siliguri’s team as a goalkeeper. Happiness has filled the Nanda Prasad High School premises after winning the competition.


According to information received from a sports teacher of Nanda Prasad High School, Liton Samadar, the team from Siliguri Division defeated Bankura in the quarterfinals and Howrah in the semifinals to mark their grand entry into the finals. After a goalless draw between Siliguri and Kolkata, the match went on to penalties where Siliguri defeated Kolkata 4-3. Sanjay Rai, a teacher, mentioned that the Naxalbari Nanda Prasad High School and other areas have been surrounded by a happy atmosphere after the victory.
