Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s campaign against plastic, fines imposed on passers-by as well

Siliguri Municipal Corporation has once again taken a step to keep the city free of plastic. On Wednesday, about 15 kg of plastic was recovered from Siliguri’s Pradhanagar Police Station to Siliguri Junction Station by the Municipal Corporation.

Prior to this, Siliguri Municipal Corporation carried out the operation and recovered a huge quantity of plastic. Then the shopkeepers who kept plastics were fined and then released, but this time the trade licenses were also seized along with the fine.

These shopkeepers have been asked to meet in the corporation’s office within 48 hours.
Apart from the big shops, this campaign was also conducted for shops on the sidewalk. Penalties were also imposed on travellers using plastic. Overall, today a penalty of Rs 1,550 has been recovered.
