Sikkim by-election: Victory for PS Golay in Poklok-Kamrang and BJP in Martam-Rumtek

Gangtok, 24th October: The counting of votes for the Sikkim assembly by-election is being carried on, today. According to the reports so far, election results, in the Poklok-Kamrang and Martam-Rumtek regions, have been declared, while the votes for the Gangtok region are still being counted.

SKM Party President and Chief Minister of Sikkim, PS Golay won by 8,000 votes in the Poklok-Kamrang region. Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk of BJP won by 6,000 votes in the Martam-Rumtek region.

Significantly, there was an alliance between SKM and BJP in the Sikkim by-election, in which BJP candidates contested for 2 out of 3 seats and the SKM Party President PS Golay contested for one seat in Poklok-Kamrang. PS Golay's victory has created a wave of happiness among his supporters.
