Security in the jungle tightened ahead of Independence Day

Alipurduar, 14th August: A campaign has been launched since Wednesday morning, with the joint initiative of the Forest Department and CIF in the forest surrounding the villages and the forest surrounding Tea Gardens to prevent the entry of thieves and hunters into the forest. On Wednesday morning, the Forest Department and the CIF jointly initiated the campaign at the Tea Gardens, and the village surrounded by the forest under the Kodalbasti Range under Alipurduar District.

According to the information received from the Forest Department, the thieves and hunters could take advantage of people being busy during the festive day and could steal valuable timbers and could even harm the wildlife in the forest. Therefore, strict security measures have been adopted to prevent thieves and hunters from entering the jungle on Independence Day with the joint initiative by the Forest Department and CIF. The protection of forests and wildlife is their main responsibility according to the officials of the Forest Department.
