A 50 years old man was caught from the Indo-Bangladesh border area of Gopalganj in Malda with RS. 9 lakhs and 70 thousand of fake Indian currency in his possession.
The name of the accused is said to be Iqramul Sheikh. He is a resident of the Charianantpur locality in Kaliachak and was caught by the soldiers of BSF’s 24th Battalion.
As per reports, a total of 458 duplicate notes of Rs.2000 were found with Sheikh. The currency had been packed in four bundles.
It is being presumed that the duplicate currency notes had been tossed from across the border in Bangladesh. Sheikh, along with the seized currency, are now in the custody of the Kailachak Police.
