Patient dies due to the absence of doctor, protest held

The relatives of a patient in Cooch Behar Government Medical College and Hospital protested last night, accusing the death of a patient due to the absence of the doctor in the emergency department of the hospital. After receiving the news, Cooch Behar Kotwali police station calmed down the situation after reaching the spot. According to sources, a student, called Shubhrajyoti De Sarkar, a resident of Ravindranagar, 12 no ward of Cooch Behar city, tried to commit suicide by hanging herself in her own house on Friday night.


Local people immediately took him to Cooch Behar Government Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. The relatives of the deceased student alleged that till Shubhrajyoti was taken to the hospital, she was alive, but there was no physician in the hospital emergency department, due to which the student died.

The family members of the deceased student protested there after this incident. After receiving the news, officials from the Cooch Behar Kotwali police station and the Deputy Superintendent of Police Dibyendu Das reached the spot and controlled the situation.


In this regard, MSVP Rajeev Prasad of the Cooch Behar Government Medical College and Hospital said that the entire incident will be investigated.
