Gangtok, 04th November: Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) President P. S. Golay took oath at the Sikkim Assembly Building today. Along with him, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates who won from two recently elected Sikkim assemblies also took oath today.
After emerging victorious from the Gangtok constituency, BJP candidate Y. T. Lepcha opened his shoes before entering the Sikkim Assembly House for the oath-taking ceremony. Talking to journalists after he was sworn in, he said that the Assembly Hall is a monastery, a mosque, a temple, a gurudwara, a church, and it is a holy place. He also said that he would serve the people of Sikkim, including in his area.
It is to be noted, that the three recently elected state assembly polls were won by SKM candidate P. S. Golay from Poklok-Kamrang respectively while BJP candidate Sonam Venchungpa from Martam-Rumtek and Y. T. Lepcha from Gangtok constituency. For the first time in the history of Sikkim, the BJP achieved an alliance with the ruling party.
