Old City Autos to be replaced in Siliguri this year

This year, environment friendly vehicles are going to replace the Old City Autos in Siliguri. On Friday at the Siliguri State Guest House, State Tourism Minister Gautam Deb held a meeting with Siliguri SDO Siraj Dnyaneshwar, Member of Transport Board Krishna Chandra Pal and other officials of the Transportation Board.

After this meeting, Minister Gautam Deb said, while talking to the reporters that the court has instructed to change the City Auto that was almost 15 years old. Pollution from these old automobiles is increasing. That is why in the meeting today, we have decided that environment friendly vehicles will be replaced instead of the Old City Autos in Siliguri this year.

On behalf of the government, the city auto owners will be given 35 percent concession to buy new vehicles under the Gatidhara scheme. However, City Autos are not being shut down before the Pooja. The Minister said that after the Pooja, the process of launching environmentally friendly vehicles on Siliguri roads will be started.
