National Forest Martyrs’ Day observed in Sarugara

Siliguri, 11th September (Bijoy Paul): It was on September 11, 1730, that 363 people of the Bishnoi tribe were killed in Khejarli, Rajasthan when they objected to the felling of trees. Every year, the National Forest Martyrs’ Day is observed on the 11th of September, in memory of those, who laid down their lives while protecting the forests and wildlife.


The national forest Martyrs’ Day was observed by the Sarugara Range Unit Committee Baikunthapur Division, today. The Forest workers paid tribute by showering Martyrs’ tomb with flowers.
