Siliguri, 10th October: The Mahananda River has been cleaned by the Municipal Corporation after the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga. The residents of the city are happy to see the step taken by the Municipal Corporation.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, with the permission of the administration, the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga concluded at the Lal Mohan Moulik Niranjan Ghat of Mahananda River. Most of the statues were immersed here, due to which the ministers and MLAs were present.
It has been observed for a long time that pollution in the rivers increases after immersion of the idols. In view of this, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation is playing an important role in preventing pollution in the rivers. After cleaning the Mahananda River, the banks have, once again, become clean. The initiative of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation was appreciated by all.
