More than 50 schools participated in GTA quiz contest

Darjeeling, 16th September: The Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) Inter-School Quiz Contest 2019 was organized by the Mukh Bandh Kaam Suru Trust (MBKS). The contest was held under the aegis of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, GTA. More than 50 Schools participated in the quiz that was held at two levels - regional and GTA.


The regional quiz for Darjeeling sub-division was held at St. Robert’s School. St. Alphonsus School was the host for the Kurseong and Mirik sub-division of the competition. The Kalimpong district contest was held at Marwad Palace. The regional contest was held simultaneously in these three venues.

The quizmaster for Darjeeling was Rahul A. Pradhan, general secretary of MBKS Trust. Ashesh Chhetri and Md. Yusuf hosted the shows in Kurseong and Kalimpong respectively.


The top two winners of the regional rounds faced off for the championship at Rockvale Academy, Kalimpong.

The General Secretary of MBKS, Pradhan, mentioned that after three hours of intense quizzing among the six teams, St. Joseph’s School (North Point) retained the trophy. The all-girls team of Dr. Graham’s Homes, Kalimpong, and the all-boys team from St. Augustine’s School, Kalimpong, were the first and second-runners up respectively.
