A minor who went for bathing died after drowning in the Mahananda river of Sonapur checkpost area of north Dinajpur district. The deceased minor has been named as Partha Adhikari. He was a resident of Gunjariagach of Sonapur and he was a student of Class VIII of Chopra High School.
It is known that Partha Adhikari had gone to take bath in the river with his friends yesterday. At the same time, he was suddenly swept away by the river cutrents. After this, the people arrived at the spot, took the boat and started looking for the student, but they could not find him.
After a long delay, the Disaster Relief team arrived from Siliguri and started looking for the student in the river. After searching for nearly one and a half hours, the body of the student was finally recovered from the river.
