Mayor demands recruitment of doctors in health centers from the state government

Siliguri Municipal Corporation has started the Urban Primary Health Center with the help of the State Government, but due to the shortage of health workers, the health system has completely been devastated. The state government will have to pay attention to this.

Addressing a press conference in the city’s Municipal Corporation, Siliguri’s Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya said the above words. He said that the Urban Primary Health Center has been started with the help of the State Government and 9 out of 10 health centers have been constructed. He also said that the government is giving medicine, but there is a lack of doctors here.

The Mayor said that the reason for this is the low salary given by the government. There are 7 out of 10 full time medical officers available, while there are only four out of ten part time medical officers. He said that in spite of this situation, 64, 842 thousand people in 2017-18 and 46,894 patients have been provided health care in 2018. He has urged the state government to recruit doctors soon in health centers.
