For two consecutive years, the Durga Puja of Coochbehar’s Khagrabari Durga Puja Committee has been getting the title of Best Pooja Pandal. This year too, something different is being done by them. This year Khagarabari Durga Puja Committee is making Pooja Pandal on the basis of the palace shown in the film Padmavati. Members of the Committee hope that this time too they will be entitled to the Best Pooja award.
Khagarabari Sporting Club, Deshbandu Club and Chaurangi Unit, all these three clubs get together and organize the Durga Puja in Khagadabari area adjacent to Coochbehar city. This year their worship budget is Rs. 62 lakhs. At the same time, Rs.5 lakh will be sent as relief to the flood victims in Kerala on behalf of the committee. The pandal is being constructed with bamboo and mat. In the Pandal, the lighting will be done by Chandanagar.
Pancham Sarkar, a member of the Puja Committee, said that various awareness campaigns will be organized during the Poojas. A large number of visitors will come, in view of which strict security arrangements have been made so that there is no inconvenience to the people.
