Kalimpong Shuts Down In Memory Of Late GJM Leader

The strike that had been called in the hills by Bimal Gurung’s side of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha has only showed its effect in Kalimpong, sources report. However, schools and colleges are still functioning today.

The day of shutdown had been called in memory of the late GJM leader, Barun Bhujel, who passed away in Kolkata during medical treatment on Wednesday morning.

Bhujel had been arrested by the police over his alleged involvement in the unrest that had enveloped the hills for a period close to three months.

It has also been found that Barun Bhujel’s body will be brought to Kalimpong today for his final rites.
