Islampur Bypass Issue: Farmers’ Protest Halts Work Yet Again

Yet again, the farmers successfully halted the bypass work in Dimrulla, Islampur today, because of which the administration was forced to back out again.

Despite a huge police force being posted in the area on Monday and Tuesday, the earth mover could not be operated due to the farmers that were protesting there. The administration then had to start the work in Aadivasipara today with the help of the police.

The bypass issue has created so many hurdles for the administration that it is now being questioned if the work would be able to finish at all. Deputy Magistrate of the Islampur Sub-Division, Thendup Sherpa, says that the bypass work has been done up to 200 meters and that the work will commence in Shrikrishnapur after the obstacles are tackled.
