Day 1 was all about the Indians as everything went right for them. They won the toss, elected to bat, and their two openers are still undefeated at stumps on Day 1. Rohit Sharma scored a century in his first game as an opener and Mayank Agarwal is eyeing one as well. The platform has been laid for a huge first innings score by the two openers.
A whole session was lost and the play was called off, today, as it seemed improbable for the lights to improve and the rain worsened things further. A tremendous batting from the opening pair of Rohit Sharma (115* off 174) and Mayank Agarwal (84* off 183) helped India reach a total of 202/0 in 59.1 overs.
India will be hoping to bat only once with a huge first innings score while South Africa, on the other hand, need wickets, that too quickly, if they are to make a comeback in this game. Their bowlers just did not look at their best on Day 1 but they need a better performance on Day 2.
Will they fight back or will the Indians continue their dominance on Day 2?
