From the month of April, the hills will be getting flour in their ration instead of the wheat grains that were being sent. As per sources, the food department has decided to give 750 grams of flour per ration card.
The Food Minister of the state, Jyotipriya Mallick, held a meeting today after which he met with the media and shared that the flour will be sealed in packets of various colours so that dealers do not sell old stocks.
Today, the Food Minister had a meeting with the food department officials, ration dealers and distributors as well as administrative officials of Siliguri Sub-Division and four other sub-divisions of Darjeeling. The District Magistrate was also present in the meeting.
The meeting primarily focused on digital ration cards and the distribution of ration in tea estates. Minister Jyotipriya Mallick also stated that 8, 47, 000 digital ration cards have already been brought to Darjeeling, out of which 31,000 cards have been distributed.
