The opposition party has nominated former diplomat and Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopal Krishna Gandhi for the post of the Vice- President, the election for which will be held on August 5.
Gopal Krishna Gandhi’s name was announced after a meeting of the opposition parties which was led by Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, at the Library Building of the Parliament House. The news of the announcement was confirmed by Sonia Gandhi.
After discussing several names in the meeting, Gopal Krishna’s name was decided unanimously. Janta Dal United’s [JD(U)] Senior Leader, Sharad Yadav was also present in the meeting.
As per reports, JD (U) is supporting the NDA candidate, Ramnath Kovind for the post of the President.
