Google Doodle remembered Dr Govindappa Venkataswamy on 100th birthday

Google has remembered the birthday of great ophthalmologist Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy by making a doodle for him. Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy, the famous ophthalmologist of India, was born on October 1, 1918 in Wadamalpuram, Tamilnadu. Today is his 100th birthday. On this occasion Google has created a doodle titled Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy’s 100th Birthday.

Dr Govindappa Venkataswamy highlighted the lives of blind people in the country by giving them their eyesight back. After taking a degree from Chennai’s Stanley Medical College, Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy studied ophthalmology and highlighted the lives of those people who lost their eyesight.

Govindappa Venkataswamy said goodbye to the world on July 7, 2006 at the age of 87. Dr. Govindappa Venkatswamy, honored with the Padma Shri, did more than one lakh surgeries to the eyes of blind peoe and gave them a cause to live again.
