Dhupguri’s reputed folk singer, Kalachand Darbesh, breathed his last on Sunday morning after combating an illness for a long time.
As per sources, Kalachand Darbesh had been suffering from an ailment and his condition had been deteriorating, which is why he had been admitted at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on Saturday.
The folk singer was discharged from the hospital in the night. He breathed his last at 84 years of age and passed away on Sunday morning.
Dhupguri Municipality’s Chairperson Bharti Barman, Vice Chairman Rajesh Singh and Jalpaiguri Tathya Sanskriti Department’s officer Surya Banerjee were also among the many people who arrived for the final rites of the folk artist.
