India managed to produce a stunning script that no one had predicted before their match as their gritty performance and a never say die attitude earned the Blues an impressive goalless draw against a formidable opponent and the Asian Champions Qatar in their second Group E match on Tuesday. The Indian goalkeeper and captain Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was the star of the match with his outstanding work between the posts.
The hopes of upstaging the hosts were dimmed as India’s star striker Sunil Chhetri was ruled out of the match before the start of the game. He was suffering from high fever, resulting in the head coach, Igor Stimac, having to field a team without Chhetri against the hosts of the next FIFA World Cup. The team proved that they had enough firepower to prevent Qatar from defeating them.
The goalless draw tasted like a massive victory for the Indian team, who have their first point on board in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.
