Famous singer and Kishore Kumar’s first wife Ruma Guha Thakurta passes away, Chief Minister expresses grief

Ruma Guha Thakurta, a famous singer and actress and founder of the Calcutta Youth Choir, has passed away. Kishore Kumar’s first wife, Ruma Guha Thakurta, breathed her last at the residence of 38 Baaliganj Palace in Kolkata on Monday morning. She was 84 years old.

It is noted that in 1934 Ruma Guha Thakurta was born in Kolkata. In 1952, she was married to Kishore Kumar. She has sung songs in many films. She also appeared in several films as an actress. From Satyajit Ray to Tapan Singh, Tarun Majumdar and Rajen Tarafdar, Ruma Guha Thakurta won the hearts of the audience with her performance.

Since her death, there has been a wave of mourning in the fields of music and acting. As soon as the news of her death came, many veterans including Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Indraneel Sen, reached her house. The Chief Minister said that on behalf of the government, arrangements will be made to give Ruma Guha Thakurta the last farewell with state honors.

Amit Kumar, son of Ruma Guha Thakurta, has left from Mumbai to Kolkata after getting the news of her death. After the arrival of her son, the last rites of Ruma Guha Thakurta will be performed. At the time of death, Ruma Guha Thakurta’s one son and daughter was by her side.
