Lataguri, 07th August: Eastern Himalaya Travel and Tour Operators' Association organized their first ever Annual Convention in Lataguri on August 6 with a theme ‘Benefits Beyond Boundaries’. The three days convention was designed to bring in all the members under one roof and discuss the emerging and existing tourism potential in the region. Being the first of its kinds of convention, EHTTOA stands to be amongst the first regional association to take a step forward towards the benefit of its member through this convention. 320 members: 150 registered delegates, 55 invitees from three countries (Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan), graced the convention to make it a grand success. The major emphasizes of the convention was to stimulate cross border tourism and enhance the friendly relationship through a common agenda called ‘tourism’.
Sandipan Ghosh, Secretary, EHTTOA stated that the Tourism is the integral component of this region and that if tourism flourishes then all will flourish. He further maintained that the main objective of the convention was not just to get all members together at the same platform but also to discuss and deliberate the ideas to encourage tourism inter-state and of course cross border. Ghosh emphasized the convention as an opportunity to bring in Government bodies and other association bodies together and discuss the policies which needs to be put forward and implemented. Lastly, he expressed his gratitude towards Ministry of Tourism, Lataguri Resort Owners Welfare Association (LROWA), Alipurduar District Tourism Association (ADTA), NATTA, TOAB, ABTO, HRAB, JTWA and the members for their immense support.
Kalyan Deb, Convention Chairman mentioned that the convention was a benchmark for the association itself. Deb further said, “We have crossed the expected numbers of registration and we are happy with the outcome.”
