A protest was held by the Democratic Women's Committee in front of the office of Coochbehar's District Magistrate on Friday. The demonstrations were held in favour of multiple demands, the major one of which was the security of women.
A rally had also been organized as part of the protest, which started from the Braha Temple and toured around various areas of the city before concluding at the DM's office- where a memorandum was submitted.
The Secretary of the organization, Shikha Aditya, said their demands entail that strict action must be taken against the ones who are involved in cases of crime against women, sanctioning widow allowance and issuing digital ration cards for the poor people who have not received it till now.
Along with these demands, the Democratic Women's Committee also staged the protest to raise their voices against the FRDI bill.
