Darjeeling Police forms a committee against the consumption and sale of drugs

Darjeeling, 22nd November: In view of the increasing number of drug addicts in Darjeeling and its surrounding areas, the Darjeeling Police has launched an initiative to curb the problem. Under the initiative, the Darjeeling Police has formed a team consisting of 12 members.


The Darjeeling SP Amarnath K mentioned that the committee was formed in a meeting called by the Darjeeling Police, today. NGO officials, teachers, drivers and social workers were present in the meeting.

The Darjeeling SP Amarnath K stated that a helpline number was provided to the local people to launch a campaign against drug trafficking, after which, the Police arrested around 49 people on charges of consumption and sale of drugs, in September. In view of this, the Darjeeling Police has formed a committee, which will work for the prevention of the consumption and sale of drugs.
