Kurseong, 13th August: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista arrived at the Gorkha Jan Pustakalaya in Kurseong on Tuesday where he was warmly welcomed by various organizations and party activists. This is his first visit to Kurseong after he won the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Addressing the gathering, Bista thanked the people present in the meet and said that he had come to Kurseong to enquire about the various problems and difficulties being faced by the people. Bista maintained that he has been pursuing with the Centre the issue of a ‘permanent political solution’ for the Hills, and said that the first step towards that was opening dialogue among the Centre, the state government and stakeholders here. He also informed that the party is currently working for the allotment of tribal status to the 11 Gorkha communities.
Bista also stated that he is working tirelessly for the welfare of the Tea Garden labourers and sought central schemes for them. Representatives of the Kurseong Railway Printing Press Sanrakshan Samiti along with members of Kurseong Radio Station met the MP and shared their grievances. On the occasion, Raju Bista along with Darjeeling MLA Neeraj Zimba, GJMM (Bimal Gurung faction) acting chairperson Dr Lopsang Lama, BJP Darjeeling district chairperson Manoj Dewan, CPRM Kurseong in-charge Arun Ghatani, Uddhav Khanal, representatives of BJP Kurseong were also present.
