On October 29, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is coming to Cooch Behar. The Chief Minister will stay in Circuit House of Cooch Behar. In view of the Chief Minister’s arrival, a campaign to remove encroachment from the footpath in the city is being run by the Cooch Behar Municipality.
Today, on behalf of the municipality, everyone have been instructed to remove encroachment especially the people doing business on the pavements in Suniti road, Bairagi Dighi area and the heritage buildings.
The people have been told that if the pavements are not vacant by the end of the day, then all the shops will be removed by the municipality on Saturday, and all their belongings will also be seized.During this campaign, Chairman of Cooch Behar Municipality Bhushan Singh was present.
Meanwhile, now people are questioning that in this regard, no such move has been taken so far. This decision has been taken due to the arrival of the Chief Minister. People say that once the Chief Minister will be gone, there will be encroachment on the pavement again.
On the other hand, Cooch Behar Muncipal chairman Bhushan Singh said that for a long time, the shopkeepers are being asked to remove the encroachment on the pavement. Those people have been given time till tomorrow. If it does not happen then the municipality will take strict action.
