Due to the constant rainfall in the region of North Bengal since Thursday, water has clogged the railway lines; further affecting the railway’s routes.
North Bengal’s districts of Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar have been witnessing water-logged roads and flooded colonies because of poor drainage systems.
Many trains have been re-scheduled from their regular timings. Among these trains are the Alipurduar-New Jalpaiguri, New Jalpaiguri-Bogaigaon, NJP- Bamanhat and Siliguri-Dinhata passenger train- which have now been cancelled.
Several trains have been running late including the trains that travel back and forth from Siliguri and Kolkata. According to sources, the Kolkata-Siliguri Darjeeling Mail reached the NJP station after two hours from its estimated arrival.
The railway authorities have stated that the services will continue only after the water is cleared from the tracks.
