On Wednesday, North Bengal Development Minister Rabindranath Ghosh held a meeting in the Mini Secretariat at Uttarkanya, Siliguri with the administrative officials of different departments regarding the Uttarbang festival which is scheduled to begin from January 21.
After the meeting, Rabindranath Ghosh held a press conference and told that the meeting was called for discussing the preparations for the Uttarbang festival. He said that through the meeting, all the departments have been instructed to complete all preparations by 21st of January.
He also said that on 21 January, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will reach the Bagdogra airport from Kolkata by the flight and post that she will come to the venue of Kanchenjunga stadium directly via road.
After reaching the Kanchenjunga Stadium around 3:30 pm, they will inaugurate the Uttarbang Festival. Soon after the inauguration, the Chief Minister will be leaving for Darjeeling.
The Chief Minister will attend Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary program on 23rd January. He said that 9 people from each district will be awarded Bangaratna and 10 meritorious students will be honored during the Uttarbang festival.
