Bidhan market traders seek protection after a bomb scare

Siliguri, 10th September (Sanjay Malakar): The businessmen are still panicking over the recovery of the grenade from the Bidhan Market area in Siliguri, on Saturday. On Tuesday, a memorandum was handed over to an officer of the Siliguri Police Commissioner’s Office on behalf of the Bidhan Market Vyavasayi Samithi seeking protection in the region.


The Joint Secretary of the Bidhan Market Vyavasayi Samithi, Raju Saha, stated that the businessmen and the customers in the market have been terrorized after a grenade was found in the Bidhan Market area. The businessmen fear that this may affect business during the Durgapuja season and hence have demanded a temporary Police camp and a high-level inquiry of the incident in Bidhan Market during Durgapuja.
