Banarhat: Unwarranted Wooden Logs Worth 4 Lakhs Seized From Haldibari

Unwarranted wooden logs worth Rs. 4 lakhs were seized by the forest officials of the Moraghat Range from the Haldibari Tea Estate of Banarhat.

On Wednesday night, the forest officials were tipped off about a gang of smugglers who were illegally cutting down trees in the forests’ 3rd compartment.

By the time the officials reached there, the smugglers had fled from the scene. But the wooden logs had been left behind.

On Thursday morning, the forest officials received the news that a few trees had been cut down in the forests again. When the officials reached there, they recovered high-priced wooden logs that were being stored in an empty house.

No arrests have been made in the case so far. A search for the smugglers has been directed.
