Darjeeling, 15th December: Fourteen development boards of different communities today took out a rally in Darjeeling to showcase their support on the protest against the National Register of Citizens and the Citizen Amendment Act.
The rally, conducted under the banner of the All Board Coordination Committee, commenced from the Darjeeling Railway Station and concluded at Chowrasta.
The Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board chairman L.S. Tamsang said the 14 development boards took out a rally against the NRC and the CAA so that the message of their protest against CAA and the NRC along with their support towards the West Bengal Chief Minister on these issues reaches the Centre. He maintained that all they want is peace in hills and not NRC.
Banners displayed in the rally read 'No NRC and CAB/CAA in Bengal. We support Mamata Banerjee', 'All Hill Communities Solidarity March Against Unsecular and Discriminatory CAB Bill' among others.
