Alternative water reservoir required in the Mahananda Barrage

Siliguri, 5th December: Confusion still looms over Siliguri regarding the city's alternative drinking water system. If the Mahananda Barrage is not repaired, major accidents could occur at any time. Also, problems may arise in the drinking water supplied by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

As a result, alternative water reservoirs are required to supply the water continuously during barrage repairs. The Irrigation officials will ask the SMC members to store water for at least 15 days so that the residents are provided with a continuous supply of water until the repair is complete.

Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya, on Thursday, stated that the initiative taken by the officials to repair the barrage is a political move before the elections.
