Siliguri, 10th October: A tourist, from Hooghly, who had come to visit Darjeeling, died after falling down from the Toy train while taking a selfie. The deceased tourist has been identified as Pradeep Saxena (53) and was a resident of Rishra in the Hooghly district.
According to the information received, Pradeep, along with his wife and daughter, had come to visit Darjeeling on October 5th. On Wednesday evening, Pradeep was traveling from Darjeeling to NJP on a Toy train. While taking a selfie at the door of the moving train in Jorkhola, he suddenly fell down from the train and sustained a severe head injury.
He was rushed to the Darjeeling District Hospital, where, he was referred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on the way. An autopsy was conducted, late last night, in which, an internal brain hemorrhage was mentioned as the cause of the death.
The tourist's body was then, brought to the Mainak Tourist Lodge in Siliguri, where, the Tourism Minister Goutam Deb paid tribute. Later, the Minister made arrangements to send the dead body to Hooghly stating that the incident was disheartening.
