5.6 magnitude earthquake hits North India

Siliguri, 19th July: Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of north-eastern states including North Bengal’s Siliguri today. According to sources, the quake was felt at 2 pm and 52 minutes in the afternoon. So far, there are no report of any damage from anywhere in the northeast. The tremor was also felt in the neighboring state of Sikkim, Assam and other northeastern states. The earthquake hit the areas with a 5.6 Richter magnitude scale. The epicentre of the quake was located at a depth of 10 km at East Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh, the Met Office website stated. Earthquake tremors were also felt in China along with India.
