Siliguri, July 13: Nepalese poet and literary genius Bhanu Bhakta may have been forgotten in his native land, but Nepali-speaking Indians today proved that he is still close to their hearts. Like every year, 205th Bhanu Jayanti was celebrated in Siliguri with much zeal and enthusiasm at the Siliguri Deshbandhu Manch on Saturday. In the program, Tourism Minister Goutam Deb along with Writer Nar Bahadur Dahal, Milan Ruchal, Dr. Krishna Raj Ghatani, Gyanendra Dahal, Sambhu Rai and many other dignitaries were present.
A rally was taken out from the Krishna Maya Nepali High School and concluded after offering flowers before the statue of the poet at Junction. After the rally, Social activist Deepak Neupane, Padam Chettri and Ajay Prasad were felicitated in the program. Students who attained excellent marks in the board exams were also felicitated. In the program, various cultural and traditional songs and dances were presented to commemorate the contribution of the poet.
