Woman found hanging inside her residence in Siliguri

SILIGURI: A woman was found hanging from a ceiling inside her residence at Haiderpara in Siliguri town on Friday late night.

Following the discovery, Bhaktinagar police was informed about the incident. The police arrived at the spot and recovered the body the same night and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri for post mortem.

According to police source, investigations revealed Soniya Dubey (31) had used a dupatta to allegedly commit suicide by hanging from the ceiling of her residence in the Haiderpara area of Siliguri.

Police have arrested her husband Amit Dubey and father-in-law Pashupati Dubey(66) in connection with the alleged suicide case.

They were arrested following Soniya’s unnatural death as she was allegedly tortured mentally and physically by her in-laws, added the source.
