Venkaiah Naidu vs Gopalkrishna Gandhi: India’s 15th Vice President To Be Elected Today
The election for India’s 15th Vice- President are being held today at the Parliament House in the capital with the Electoral College, that comprises of 790 members from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The result for the same will be declared by the evening today.
Union Minister, M. Venkaiah Naidu, is the BJP-led NDA’s choice as the Vice-Presidential candidate against the opposition’s nominee, Gopalkrishna Gandhi- who happens to be Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson.
The election is speculated to be a cake-walk for Naidu, because of the BJP’s current strong position and their allies in the Parliament. On the other hand, the ruling NDA may place Gandhi on the post easily due to their majority in the Lok Sabha.
The name of the next Vice-President of India is expected to be announced by 7pm today.
