Siliguri Youth Congress Sends Memorandum To Rail Minister Over Darjeeling Mail
Protesting against the news of making the Darjeeling Mail depart from Alipurduar instead of the New Jalpaiguri Station, the Vidhan Sabhan Youth Congress of Siliguri submitted a memorandum to the NJP Station management which is meant to further reach the Minister of Railways.
The memorandum was submitted late on Monday evening; following which the President of the Siliguri Vidhan Sabha Youth Congress, Prashant Singhal, stated that the NJP Station is one of the major stations under the Katihar Division and earns a lot of profit for the government.
He said that they will be opposing the decision if the Darjeeling Mail ever departs from Alipurduar. Moreover, the organization has also demanded that another train should be introduced which covers the route of Alipurduar-Sealdah.
On the other hand, the Railway Department had already clarified that the departing point of the Darjeeling Mail will not be shifted from New Jalpaiguri to Alipurduar anytime in the near future.
