People Become Homeless After Alipurduar Gets Flooded
The flood situation in Alipurduar and other adjoining areas has taken a turn for the worse. All wards of the Alipurduar Municipal Corporation have been reported to be water-logged.
In some areas like Vidhanpally and Ghagra More, the intensity of the flood is such that the houses have been completely submerged in the rain water.
Atleast 50,000 people have become homeless ever since the area became affected with the flood. The administration has sanctioned one boat, but the rescue operations have not commenced properly.
The people are being escorted from the flood-affected regions to safer places. The Kaljani River has also gone beyond the mark of danger and is deemed as unsafe.
The parts of Kaljani that do not have a dam constructed over it is causing the water to be freely unleashed towards the city. Many people have been reported to be taking refuge in the dams.
