Islampur, 23rd January: A lorry caught fire on National Highway 31 in Islampur due to which the associate driver died on the spot. The movement of vehicles on the highway was disrupted for a long period of time, due to the incident.
According to locals, the lorry was travelling towards Siliguri when it suddenly caught fire on Highway 31 in Islampur. The driver of the lorry immediately escaped, but the associate driver, who was sleeping at the time, could not get out of the vehicle in time.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, a fire engine arrived at the spot and extinguished the fire. The Islampur Police also reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Islampur Sub-divisional Hospital.
