Kalchini Locals Demand Dam Construction, Threaten To Boycott Panchayat Elections
200 families of the East Satali Village in Kalchini have demanded the construction of a dam on the Basra River that flows near the village. Moreover, the families have threatened to boycott the Panchayat Elections if the same is not done.
It has been alleged that every year, the Basra River starts overflowing in monsoons- waterlogging the fields that are nearby.
The locals complained that they had submitted a memorandum on April 25 of last year. At the same time, the Chief Minister had arrived in Kalchini’s Kudal Basti for an administrative meeting. The officials of the irrigation department had reached the village next day.
But the problem has not been resolved so far; which is why the annoyed people decided to boycott the forthcoming Panchayat elections.
