Siliguri, 03rd February: State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to inaugurate the Manishi Panchanan Barma memorial building at Jalpaiguri on February 09. The Chief Minister will inaugurate it virtually from Howrah. SJDA Chairman Sourav Chakraborty informed about the same through a press conference at the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority office today.
Reportedly, a proposal was given to the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority on behalf of the Manishi Panchanan Barma Memorial Committee. Based on the said proposal, and with the efforts of the SJDA, the memorial building has been constructed near Jalpaiguri Rajbari Dighi. A library and a museum have been set up in the said building, which will comprise everything including poetry books, and various pictures composed by Barma.
In this regard, SJDA Chairman Sourav Chakraborty said that the Panchanan Barma memorial building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 54 lakh. However, some works of the museum and library remain. This is the first Manishi Panchanan Barma memorial building being inaugurated in North Bengal. Along with this, the Chief Minister will unveil a statue of Barma.
