BJP Speaks Out Against Menace Afeem Farming In Alipurduar
The illegal farming of afeem, a.k.a opium, has been wildly increasing in Alipurduar-1 Block, especially in the 12/83 booth area of Salbari mouza in Tapsi Gram Panchayat.
It has been alleged that the police as well as the administration is aware about the problem, but no steps have been taken to act against the unlawful farming.
On behalf of the Bharatiya Janta Party, a memorandum addressing the issue was given to the District Superintendent of Police.
It has also been revealed that such illegal farms are also situated on the lands owned by locals named Jhunu Munda and Bijla Munda. In his defense, Jhunu Munda stated that he had leased his share of land to another person named Prakash Ray.
