Bagdogra Airport Witnesses Fewer Passengers, Airlines Withdraw Flights
Bagdogra Airport has witnessed fewer passengers this month, as compared to the regular traffic that they receive. Moreover, some carriers have decided to withdraw the flights that fly from the airport.
It has been reported that the traffic at Bagdogra has reduced in number due to the indefinite strike that has been effective in the hills since the last three weeks.
“Two flights of SpiceJet that fly the Bangalore to Bagdogra route were withdrawn on June 30. Jet Airways will be withdrawing their Mumbai-bound flight from July 15,” an airport official stated.
The number of passengers always decreases by 10-15% in June because of the monsoon season that starts in the month. Although the official estimation is yet to be released, airport officials believe that 30-35% of the traffic has fallen.
